Creating Joins in SSMS and Visualisation in Power Bi

Dear Team,
I hope this message finds you well. We have an important project that requires your expertise in SQL, data analysis, and Power BI. This project is critical for enhancing our sales data analysis and reporting capabilities. Here are the detailed requirements and tasks for the project:
 Project Overview
 Objective
To develop a comprehensive SQL query to join multiple sales-related tables, import the data into Power BI for analysis, create visualizations, and publish the final report to Power BI Service with necessary gateways for data refresh.
 Tasks
Task 1: Writing the SQL Query
Objective: Write a SQL query to join data from the following tables in the `AdventureWorksLT2019` database:
– `Product`
– `ProductCategory`
– `SalesOrderDetail`
– `SalesOrderHeader`
– `Customer`
– `CustomerAddress`
– `Address`
The query should include columns such as:
– Sell start/end dates
– Product category information
– Sales order details and header information
– Customer details
– Address information
Task 2: Import Data into Power BI Desktop
Objective: Import the result set from the SQL query into Power BI Desktop.
Steps:
1. Connect to the SQL Server and database `AdventureWorksLT2019`.
2. Execute the SQL query created in Task 1.
3. Load the data into Power BI for further analysis.
Task 3: Create Visualizations in Power BI
Objective: Create meaningful visualizations to analyse the data.
Steps:
1. Develop at least 5 different visualizations (e.g., bar charts, line charts, pie charts) to analyse sales data.
2. Compile these visualizations into a cohesive dashboard.
Task 4: Publish to Power BI Service and Configure Gateway
Objective: Publish the Power BI report to Power BI Service and set up a data refresh gateway if the data source is on-premises.
Steps:
1. Publish the Power BI Desktop report to Power BI Service.
2. Configure an on-premises data gateway if required.
3. Map the data source in Power BI Service to use the configured gateway.
4. Set up a scheduled refresh to ensure the data remains up-to-date.
 Timeline and Deliverables
– SQL Query Development
– Power BI Data Import and Visualization
– Report Publishing and Gateway Configuration: (Thursday, 13th June, 2024.)
Please ensure to document each step and provide progress updates regularly. If you encounter any challenges or require further clarifications, do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and your continuous hard work.
Best regards,
